Speaking in London on Thursday, McFarlane admitted Chelsea’s recent league form has fallen below expectations but stressed that cup finals require a different response.
"I think our recent form in the league has been way below the standard we'd expect. […] Our focus is on that, performing as well as we can against the top side," said McFarlane.
"They've got the belief they can beat anyone. They're (Manchester City) an exceptional side with an exceptional coach and exceptional players. So they're going to be a challenge. […] These players have shown that if they're at their best, they can beat anyone," he added.
McFarlane also addressed the pressure surrounding the club, saying it is part of competing at Chelsea’s level, with speculation mounting that Spanish coach Xabi Alonso is set to take over at Stamford Bridge next season.
“There’s always pressure to win every game. But this game as well, there's pressure. You have to accept that and embrace that," he continued.
"There's a lot of names linked with the (Chelsea) job. It's not really my place to say who's going to get it, who should get it, who's a good manager, who's not a good manager," he said.
Chelsea face seven-time FA Cup winners Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, with the Citizens still targeting a domestic treble this season."

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
'What we stand for is unity' - Hundreds mark Jerusalem Day with flags and songs in Old City

'What we stand for is unity' - Hundreds mark Jerusalem Day with flags and songs in Old City

"Hundreds flooded the streets of the Old City on Thursday to mark Jerusalem Day, an Israeli holiday commemorating the establishment of Israeli control over the Old City following the Six-Day War in 1967.
Footage from Jerusalem shows residents waving Israeli flags, carrying banners, and singing as crowds move through the city.
"A bunch of nations attack us, and with seltzer bottles we were able to be 'Netzach Yisrael lo yishaker' ('The Eternity of Israel will not deceive'), we were able to succeed and fight off our enemies," said Coby Friedman, one of the attendees.
Joseph Cohen, a YouTuber and recent immigrant to Israel, shared that the day highlighted the city's divisions.
"Physically, we're reunified, but there's a great fracture between the people that live here. And what we, the Jewish people, stand for is unity, unity amongst everyone," he said.
Jerusalem Day has been celebrated since 1968, but was not officially established in Israeli law until 1998, when the Knesset passed legislation establishing Yom Yerushalayim as a national holiday."

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
COVID cover-up? - Senators, CIA whistleblower allege 'deep state' influence over pandemic origin investigations

COVID cover-up? - Senators, CIA whistleblower allege 'deep state' influence over pandemic origin investigations

"SCRIPT TO FOLLOW"

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
'United under Israeli sovereignty' - Netanyahu vows enemies will not 'uproot us from Jerusalem' on 59th reunification anniversary

'United under Israeli sovereignty' - Netanyahu vows enemies will not 'uproot us from Jerusalem' on 59th reunification anniversary

"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu marked Jerusalem Day during a ceremony in the city, delivering a speech celebrating the 59th anniversary of what Israel calls the reunification of Jerusalem following the 1967 Six-Day War.
"The stubborn battle fought here 59 years ago was an important stage on the way to the reunification of Jerusalem, our eternal capital, brought together as one," he said. "Jerusalem will always remain united under Israeli sovereignty."
The prime minister linked Israel's current security challenges to past wars, saying the country had once again faced 'existential threats' during the ongoing conflict.
"In the current war, just as before the Six-Day War, those who sought to destroy us tried to place a noose around our necks," he stressed.
Netanyahu persisted, "Our enemies aim to wipe us out completely. But they have another goal: to uproot us from Jerusalem," underlining, "We will not allow this to happen — and it will not happen."
He remarked that Israel achieved significant military gains across multiple fronts, referring to regional adversaries.
"We have crushed large parts of the Iranian axis of evil that surrounded us from all sides," the prime minister said, describing an immediate threat from Iran's missile and nuclear capabilities.
Netanyahu also highlighted Israel's cooperation with the United States, noting that regional power dynamics had shifted. "The close alliance with President Trump's administration in the United States […] changed the face of the Middle East."
Jerusalem is one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities, with recorded history dating back over 3,000 years. It holds religious significance for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and is considered sacred by all three faiths. Today, the city is home to both Jewish and Arab populations."

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
'Historic and great day' – Yemeni government, Houthis sign UN-brokered deal in Amman to release over 1,700 prisoners

'Historic and great day' – Yemeni government, Houthis sign UN-brokered deal in Amman to release over 1,700 prisoners

"The Yemeni government and the Ansar Allah group (Houthis) signed an agreement in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Thursday, paving the way for the release of more than 1,600 detainees, in a United Nations-backed prisoner exchange.
Footage shows a press conference announcing the deal, attended by UN Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg, delegations from the Yemeni parties, and a Saudi delegation. The video also shows talks taking place outside the press conference hall.
Grundberg said the agreement was reached after 15 months of direct talks held in Amman.
“It demonstrates that even in the face of deep mistrust and a prolonged conflict, dialogue can still deliver meaningful results,” the UN envoy said. “I hope that the momentum generated today will help advance efforts to secure the release of UN personnel and other individuals who remain in arbitrary detention.”
Abdulqader al-Murtada, head of the Houthi Prisoners’ Committee, described the agreement as the “most significant yet” despite the dozens of previous deals reached through UN and local mediation efforts.
Major General Yahya Abdullah Al-Razami, head of the Yemeni government’s military negotiating committee, echoed the sentiments, calling it a ‘historic’ day, congratulating the detainees and expressing hope for their imminent release.
According to a statement issued by the Yemeni government delegation and the Arab Coalition negotiating committee, the agreement provides for the release of approximately 1,750 detainees from various parties, including 27 detainees affiliated with the Arab Coalition.
The agreement follows months of negotiations that began between the Yemeni government and the Houthis in the Omani capital, Muscat, in December 2015. According to statements from the parties, indirect negotiations later resumed in Riyadh for a month before Jordan hosted a 90-day round of direct consultations."

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
'Kiev regime will spare no one unless it is properly restrained' - Kremlin's Peskov

'Kiev regime will spare no one unless it is properly restrained' - Kremlin's Peskov

"*TO FOLLOW*"

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
'Partners, not rivals' - Xi and Trump toast 'strategic stability' in China-US relations at Beijing banquet *FULL AND UNCUT*

'Partners, not rivals' - Xi and Trump toast 'strategic stability' in China-US relations at Beijing banquet *FULL AND UNCUT*

"SCRIPT TO FOLLOW"

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
'Far fewer clandestine entries' - Kast reinforces migration measures, announces reforms to expel foreigners in irregular situations

'Far fewer clandestine entries' - Kast reinforces migration measures, announces reforms to expel foreigners in irregular situations

"Chilean President Jose Antonio Kast defended his immigration policy at a press conference this Thursday and announced new measures to tighten border control and expedite the departure of people in irregular situations from the country.
After enacting the 'Desalination Law' in the commune of Caldera in northern Chile, the president assured that his government has already begun to implement some of the measures promised during his presidential campaign, highlighting deportation flights of irregular migrants, increased controls at the northern border, and a decrease in clandestine entries into the country.
"The average citizen understands what we are doing. They see the planes that have left and will regularly leave with irregular immigrants. They see the border closure and that today there are far fewer clandestine entries. They see how migrants are voluntarily leaving the country and once we manage to organise everything related to migration, you will see how this starts to flow," said Kast.
The president also announced that migratory expulsions prioritise people with judicial or criminal records.
"Clearly, people who are in an irregular situation, some of them with orders, pending cases with justice, are the first to leave," he said.
The Head of State went on to confirm that the government will promote legal and even constitutional reforms to modify the current nationality system in Chile, moving away from 'jus soli' (right of the soil) to 'jus sanguinis' (right of blood).
Kast also referred to diplomatic conversations with Venezuela to facilitate the return of expelled Venezuelan citizens, asking them to leave Chile voluntarily.
According to a report by the Liberty and Development study centre in Chile, from 2025
Venezuelans represent around 42 per cent of the migrant population in the country. Currently, about 1.9 million foreigners live in Chilean territory, and a large part comes from Venezuela, with about 75% of migrants in irregular situations being Venezuelans."

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
'Constitutional delinquent!' - Chaos erupts in South African Parliament as opposition parties storm out over Ramaphosa 'Phala Phala' scandal

'Constitutional delinquent!' - Chaos erupts in South African Parliament as opposition parties storm out over Ramaphosa 'Phala Phala' scandal

"Chaos erupted in South Africa's National Assembly on Thursday, with opposition benches staging a dramatic walkout after the speaker refused to discuss the 'Phala Phala' scandal involving President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Footage shows members of the EFF, ATM, and MKP parties shouting down parliament speaker Thoko Didiza when she refused to allow an immediate no-confidence vote debate against President Ramaphosa. Party members swiftly exited the session to chants and singing as frustration boiled over.
"I, as the Speaker of this House, have the duty to ensure the smooth conduct. I've listened to your request, and I've indicated that that does not arise," declared Thoko Didiza.
For his part, Ramaphosa addressed the assembly, paying tribute to the victims of floods that have hit several provinces this past week.
"We remember those who have lost their lives, their homes and their livelihoods to the severe flooding that our country has been facing in the past week. At least 10 lives have been lost, and thousands of people have now been displaced. I should say that our thoughts and our prayers are with the families who are mourning their loved ones," said Ramaphosa.
Last week, the Constitutional Court ordered the establishment of an impeachment committee to investigate whether Ramaphosa committed serious violations related to the 2020 Phala Phala scandal, in which $580,000 was stolen from his private farm.
The South African Presidency confirmed President Cyril Ramaphosa will comply with the ruling, reaffirming that ‘no one is above the law’ and citing respect for judicial independence. The president has denied any wrongdoing."

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
'No other way to mourn' - Businesses close across Beni in 'ghost town' protest over armed violence

'No other way to mourn' - Businesses close across Beni in 'ghost town' protest over armed violence

"Economic and social activity across the city of Beni ground to a near halt on Thursday as residents and business owners observed a 'ghost town' shutdown in protest against worsening insecurity and escalating armed attacks in eastern DRC.

Footage shows residents moving through the city, with schools empty and rows of shuttered shops, as businesses, banks and transport services suspended operations following calls from citizen movements and civil society groups.

"We didn't work today to protest the ongoing violence in the two provinces of North Kivu and Ituri," said local shopkeeper Pascal Kakule, adding that residents were angered by reports of killings and insecurity across the region.

"What is happening in Beni deserves everyone's attention, including ours - the people and the government. We have no other way to mourn our loved ones except by doing what we did today," added Jean Mangapi, an activist with LUCHA Beni.

Activists also accused the international community of failing to prevent continued violence in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, despite years of international involvement and mediation.

"The international community is complicit in our misfortune," claimed Balewa Christian. "The international community works with our government, but when it comes to the security situation in the country, particularly in North Kivu and Ituri, there is no visible action on the ground."

"They are very active when it comes to exploiting our minerals, but when it comes to security, they are nowhere to be seen," he asserted.

The mobilisation reportedly took place under heightened security deployment, with police and military forces stationed at key locations across the city centre.

It comes a day after another attack attributed to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) reportedly killed several people overnight between May 13 and 14 in the Babila-Babombi area, according to local media.

Clashes continue in eastern DRC despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States and an accompanying economic agreement. Kinshasa has repeatedly accused Rwanda of backing the M23 movement, an allegation Kigali denies."
