Footage shows Trump looking uncharacteristically serious - even 'worried' - as he took Xi's hand, while putting his left to the Chinese leader's shoulder.

Trump's trip to China takes place on May 13-15. It marks his second state visit to the country and first for a US president since 2017. It was delayed from April at the Americans' request due to the Iran war.

The leaders last met in Busan, South Korea in October, where they hit 'pause' on an escalating tariffs war. Trade talks this time will see the US keen to extend China's suspension of export controls on rare earths - agreed last time around - as well as potential deals on planes, agriculture and energy. Foreign affairs including Iran are expected to come up.

Footage shows demonstrators rallying with national flags and a cardboard cutout of the senator while listening to speeches. Large groups of police formed barricades around the Senate as the complex remained on lockdown.

"He is not hiding in going to the Senate, because there are senators before like Ping Lacson and Trillanes that used the Senate as their refuge against their crimes and the Senate protected them [...] now that he surfaced, chaos happened," said a vlogger at the scene.

"He should be litigated here in the Philippines and not in other countries, because we are Filipinos and the Philippines has sovereignty; he should be put on trial here," she continued.

Another attendee echoed the sentiments, underlining that the country should 'abide by our constitution'.

"[I] hope that this is not an attempted assassination because if this is an attempted assassination, we are showing that we are playing politics and silencing the opposition," he added.

The development came after gunshots rang out late Wednesday, causing chaotic scenes at the Senate. Law enforcement was reportedly attempting to detain 64-year-old dela Rosa, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court as an 'indirect co-perpetrator' of crimes against humanity and was seen taking shelter inside the complex.

The exact nature of the gunfire remained unclear, while authorities said no casualties were reported.

Rosa, the police chief during ex-president Rodrigo Duterte's 'war on drugs', earlier called on Filipinos to stop him from being detained by the authorities.

He is wanted in connection with the killings of thousands of alleged drug dealers during the crackdown 2011-2019. Duterte himself is currently in detention, set to stand trial at The Hague."

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
Security sweep in Beijing - Police seal roads near Temple of Heaven ahead of Trump-Xi visit

Security sweep in Beijing - Police seal roads near Temple of Heaven ahead of Trump-Xi visit

"Police were seen sealing off roads near the Temple of Heaven in Beijing ahead of the visit by Donald Trump and Xi Jinping on Thursday.

“How were your talks sir?” he was asked.

“Great, Great place. China is beautiful," he replied, ignoring a question about whether they spoke about Taiwan.

Earlier, Trump was treated to a welcome ceremony and the pair held talks in the Great Hall of the People. Xi said they should be 'partners not rivals' while Trump praised his counterpart as a 'great leader': "Sometimes people don't like me saying it, but I say it anyway because it's true. I only say the truth."

Following their talks, Chinese media quoted Xi as saying that the "Taiwan issue is the most important issue in China-U.S. relations. If handled properly, bilateral relations can remain generally stable. If handled poorly, the two countries will clash or even come into conflict, pushing the entire China-U.S. relationship into a very dangerous situation."

Footage filmed on Wednesday shows wounded victims, including minors and the elderly, being treated at a facility in Niger State, many with serious injuries and bandages. Displaced people were also seen at a nearby shelter camp with their belongings.
"We were sleeping after we escaped the bandits who had stormed through our village. Then we heard loud noises, and the fire caught our rooms. Many people died in our room. I only found myself here," said a child who survived the attack.
"We heard loud gunshots from the roof, and everything was on fire. I only woke up to find myself in the hospital. I have serious pain all over my body, I can't hear very well, and I can’t move this hand," another recalled.
Authorities sent teams to confirm the death toll and assess the number of displaced residents, as survivors appealed for government help, saying they could no longer farm, rebuild their homes or feed their children.
"We are tired of running around every year, and right now we don't know where our men and husbands are, how they eat. We just want to return to our village and rebuild our homes [...] and we can't feed our children if we don't farm," said a displaced woman.
Up to 100 people were killed in an alleged military airstrike in Zamfara state on Sunday, while the army denied deliberately targeting civilians amid an operation against banditry and jihadist insurgent groups in northwest Nigeria.
Local media cited Major General Michael Onoja as confirming the airstrike on Tumfa market, but said the military conducted a precision operation against 'terrorist elements' accused of collecting illegal levies at the market.
The military denied reports of mass civilian casualties, saying there was 'no verifiable evidence' to support figures cited by rights groups, including Amnesty, and added that a post-strike assessment showed 'several terrorists were neutralised.'"

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
'People will drop like flies!' - DRC patients fear healthcare collapse as World Bank funding dries up

'People will drop like flies!' - DRC patients fear healthcare collapse as World Bank funding dries up

"The suspension of World Bank funding in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo is worsening access to healthcare, with hospitals facing higher fees, drug shortages and shrinking resources.
Footage captured in Minova, South Kivu province, on Wednesday shows medical staff carrying out ultrasound scans, checking patients’ blood pressure and caring for babies under observation. Patients are also seen resting on hospital beds.
"Since the war started, things have been terrible here in Minova. Finding even a banana or any fruit is difficult. In this case, if it were a matter of paying for medication, we would die here in the hospital," patient Asifiwe Mashariki said.
"We don’t have the means to go to the hospital or to get treatment. This is what is causing the deaths of many people. We are asking for help. If this funding is cut, people will die like flies," another patient, Nelly Kabunda, stressed.
Doctors Without Borders, also known as Medecins Sans Frontieres, is continuing to provide free care in the area, but says needs are rising dramatically as other health actors withdraw.
Medical officer Djoubissi Francoise Elodie said the end of donor-backed free care had made it increasingly difficult for mothers to pay for childbirth and neonatal services.
"The fear is that the situation will worsen, especially as more actors continue to withdraw. If this continues, we risk experiencing a health crisis in the coming days," she explained, while appealing for support on behalf of Doctors Without Borders.
"Of course, we are here, but our support is temporary because we are an emergency response organisation. We respond to emergencies and advocate for others to take over," Elodie added.
Shortages of medicines, vaccines and nutritional supplies are affecting most health zones in South Kivu. Doctors Without Borders said measles vaccines were unavailable for several months in 2025, despite outbreaks in 24 of the province’s 34 health zones.
In Minova, the impact has been stark. After World Bank support through the Multisectoral Nutrition and Health Project ended, and other partners withdrew in early 2026, Minova General Reference Hospital introduced fees for obstetric and neonatal care, including up to $100 for a caesarean section and $50 for premature newborn care."

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
'New elections now!' - Lopez Aliaga supporters cry fraud as Peru heads to runoff vote

'New elections now!' - Lopez Aliaga supporters cry fraud as Peru heads to runoff vote

"Supporters of presidential candidate Rafael Lopez Aliaga protested outside Peru’s National Jury of Elections in Lima on Wednesday, demanding new elections after updated official results showed Keiko Fujimori and Roberto Sanchez on course for a runoff.

Footage shows protesters gathered outside the electoral body, where they denounced alleged fraud and claimed the vote did not reflect the will of the Peruvian people.

"The elections should be held again. We believe that the elections that took place were a simulation of elections. The evidence of all the violations that have been found shows that they were only intended to harm one candidate," said supporter German Ugarte.

Protesters cited alleged irregularities during the electoral process, including missing records, delays in setting up polling stations and delays in the vote count. They said the issues affected the results presented by Peru’s National Office of Electoral Processes.

"All these things have only happened in Lima, harming only one candidate [Rafael Lopez Aliaga]. And under these circumstances, the ONPE is about to give results with a margin of difference of 15,000 votes," said supporter Jorge Flores. "We are living in a fictitious democracy in the country," he added.

Lopez Aliaga’s supporters also criticised Roberto Sanchez, who is expected to face Fujimori in the second round, saying he does not reflect the popular will and has the backing of Peru’s left.

With nearly all ballots counted, Fujimori, of Popular Force, was leading with just over 17 percent of the vote, followed by Sanchez, of Together for Peru, on around 12 percent. Lopez Aliaga was in third place, less than a percentage point behind.

Fujimori and Sanchez are expected to compete in the runoff scheduled for June 7."

<media:keywords>Viory</media:keywords>
THAT Trump-Xi welcome, full and exclusive - Insider coverage of landmark visit

THAT Trump-Xi welcome, full and exclusive - Insider coverage of landmark visit

"Exclusive footage from the official welcome ceremony for Donald Trump in Beijing is seen on Thursday.
